Find Calm, Clarity & Confidence in Your Life
I’m Claire Shambrook, a qualified person-centred counsellor based in Barnstaple, North Devon. I understand that life can sometimes feel overwhelming. You might be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling lost and unsure of your next step. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to go through it alone.

A space for calm
Counselling offers you a safe, supportive, and confidential space to talk openly and begin to make sense of your feelings. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening in your life right now, identify what’s holding you back, and work towards the changes you’d like to see.
How Counselling Can Help
Life brings challenges that can affect our wellbeing, sometimes gradually, sometimes all at once. Through counselling, you can start to:
- Understand difficult emotions and patterns of thinking
- Build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience
- Work through grief, loss, or major life changes
- Find calm and balance when life feels chaotic
- Improve relationships and set healthy boundaries
- Reconnect with the sense of who you truly are
If any of this sounds familiar, counselling could be the first step toward feeling lighter, more grounded, and more in control.

Types of Counselling I Offer
I provide one-to-one counselling sessions for adults in a calm, confidential setting in Barnstaple.
For those unable to attend in person, online counselling sessions are also available, offering flexibility and comfort wherever you are.
Some of the areas I work with include:
Anxiety, stress, and panic attacks
Depression and low mood
Bereavement and loss
Relationship issues, separation, and divorce
Work-related stress or burnout
Low self-esteem and self-confidence
Emotional or physical trauma
Loneliness and isolation
My Approach
I use a person-centred and humanistic approach, which places you at the heart of the counselling process. Rather than directing the conversation, I listen attentively, reflect back your thoughts and feelings, and help you gain new perspectives. Over time, this process can lead to greater self-awareness, confidence, and emotional healing.
My aim is to create a genuine, empathetic, and non-judgemental space where you feel completely safe to express yourself.
